I just purchased a 2210 w/ 62c MMM and 54" front blade. I wanted the blade for clearing snow from my asphalt driveway (fairly large driveway ~300'+). Now I was wondering if I should have purchased the FEL instead. The blade (w/ angling, etc) was $1100. The dealer offers the 53" FEL for $1800 (not sure if that includes the ballast box or not). Thoughts?

Greg - it really depends on what your main use(s) for these implements would be. If clearing snow is job #1 the blade will be superior to the FEL. However, for the difference in money, the FEL is a much more versatile implement capable of a multitude of tasks. If you're hedging on one over the other, I'd personally go with the FEL since you most definitely can use it to move snow. Just my 2 cents: the FEL is worth the extra money. ....

I completely agree with 2210jd. I sit on one of these babies all day long and a FEL is the most useful attachment on the planet. With that said a blade certainly has its uses. If you are pushing (ie angling) snow it will be superior and will really shine when you are making anything to grade (like loose gravel or dirt). If you are mostly clearing snow you aill be fine, but if wish to landscape or move raw goods you may want to look at a 210. ....

You could always have the best of both worlds. There are six way hydraulic blades that go right on the loader. Borgford makes them and there may be other manufacturers. Not sure if they have 'em for a 210 loader though. ....

Hi, h20camper. I've always had a blade for snow and a FEL for everything else. Having both really is the best of both worlds, and the blade you have will amaze you in the snow. My $0.02 is to save up another $1,800. However, if I had to choose only one it would be the FEL. Pete ....

I wouldn't care what I may or maynot invision an FEL for..BUY IT! I use mine in more ways than I ever dreamed. The wife comes in with a van load of groceries, I load them in the bucket. Moving a 55gal drum..the bucket with forks...etc. The most useful implement of all that I have is the FEL...but I need them all. It's like an extension of your hands. I just can't imagine my 2210 without one.

Mike ....
